Carmen-Lucía Rodríguez Vélez, Esq. is a founding member of NRH. She is co-chair of the Firm’s Employment Law Practice Group. Rodríguez Vélez is admitted to practice law before the Courts of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Ms. Rodríguez Vélez’s has extensive experience in Labor and Employment law matters. Her practice areas include defense in human resources and employment law matters in local and federal courts and administrative agencies; preventive counseling; mediation skills; defense of discrimination claims, harassment claims, unjust dismissal claims, and wage and hour claims, among others; performing independent investigations of sexual harassment claims and other employment matters for clients; assisting clients in creating and updating their labor manuals and policies, and training to implement such policies; counseling in the daily management of human resources related matters for our clients; and offering seminars to clients and other institutions in labor and human resources and discrimination matters, among others. Ms. Rodríguez Vélez’s clients include financial institutions, insurance carriers, multinational pharmaceutical corporations, holding companies, public corporation, and small and medium size business, among others.
Ms. Rodríguez Vélez is a member of the Puerto Rico Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association and of the American Bar Association. She provides pro bono legal support to Niños Nueva Esperanza.
